True Radiance of Biblical Femininity

And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever. (Dan 12:3)

Girls, do you want to be a star? I bet I can hear loads of – oh yes I want to be a star, yes I really want to be a star, of course I want to be a star…
Guess what! That is God’s intent for us; that we shine as the brightness of the firmament and as the stars forever and ever…
Interesting, right?
Thinking of the stars and its sisters (moon and sun) that give light to the world, my mind recalls the sweetness of looking up the sky at night, and with great awe gaze at the stars and moon as they through the darkness send streams of light to us. The sun on its own never gets tired of rising every morning and gently sweeping the night away.
Beholding these elements of the firmament as they give light to the world gives us an insight to the awesome beauty of a life that is radiant.
So talking about being a star, I don’t mean the movie, rock, modeling or other man-made or self-made star; I’m talking about true stars whose life radiates light to the world.
A look at some characteristics of stars should give you an insight as to who a true star is…

Characteristics of Stars

 Stars stand out in the black night sky of the world. The darker the night, the brighter the stars shine.
 Stars do not struggle to shine; because they have the inherent capability put into them by God, they just shine naturally.
 Stars do not compete with each other. Though of different glories (sizes and types), they shine together to light up the world.
 Stars do not seek their own glory; they shine to give glory to the one who created them.
 Stars are not noisy; shouting and rumbling so as to be noticed. They quietly appear in the sky, do their work, and are only noticed by the light they give.
So you see, those world-made stars are not true stars because they possess little or none of those above mentioned characteristics.
So if you really want to be a true star, then “come with me” and I’ll show you the secret to being a star that shines radiantly…

The Secret of True Radiance

To be radiant means to be vividly bright and shinning; glowing. Such vivid brightness is needed in a world like ours darkened by sin and the devil.
But like I mentioned earlier, there is a secret to a life of radiance – they that be WISE shall shine…
Did you get that?
Yes, it takes a “wise” girl to exude such radiance.

When the Bible refers to the word “wise”, it usually means the Godly. They show their wisdom not only by how they live but by how their lives and testimony influence others to follow God. The fact that they “shall shine” means their lives will be spiritually transformed, and God’s glory (ie. greatness, uniqueness, power) will be reflected in and through their lives.1

Such wise girls are needed to light up our darkened world. “Ye are the light of the world” God tells us. “A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in heaven”. (Mtt 5:14-16)
Though we live in a world unrestrained in sin and iniquity, we need to be as an author put it “Girls Gone Wise in a World Gone Wild”.
To be such wise girls whose lives are really radiant, we must wholly embrace and live out Biblical Femininity.
