The Priceless Princess Preferred by a Prominent Prince: Her Secret

Have you watched a royal wedding, wondering how this young woman, above other women, was preferred by this prince? Maybe somewhere in your heart, you’re wishing and praying that someday, a prince would prefer you above other girls, take your hands in his, and sweetly walk you down the aisle. Not just any prince, a prominent one; not just a man-accorded prominence, but one he inherits because he is the son of the King of kings.

Now listen girls, there’s a secret to that!

That’s what you’ll discover from the life of this girl who won the heart of a king that controlled nations of different tribes and tongues.

Yes! But before we get into that, I’ll love to take you on this little side trip.

You know, we live in a world that so much drums “live for yourself” into our ears in different ways, and subtly feeds our little heart with anti-femininity lies that make us wonder if all we have to do in life is just “get ready to be bought off by one man”.

No sweetheart! You are priceless, a priceless princess. So you can’t actually be bought by anyone, apart from Jesus who paid with His own life to save you from sin.

However, we girls have a significant role divinely designed for us to fulfill; and that is to – be home makers. In fact in Titus 2:5, Paul knowing the importance of this role instructed the older women to teach the young women to be “keepers at home” (homemakers).

Virtually everyone is a product of a home, and hence of this divine role of women. So whether that life is fruitful or fruitless, a woman directly or indirectly contributes to that.

That’s the reason we shouldn’t take our future marriages and homes as a light thing.

I’m sure you are looking forward to having your home right? Yeeessss…

But you know, just like a girl (or boy) who desires to one day save lives within the walls of a hospital, she starts early to prepare for that special assignment. From the simple arithmetic in basic school, to the sciences in high school, and then to medical school, she keeps getting herself ready. How diligent she is during the preparatory season to a large extent determines how she’ll perform during practice. Correct? Yes!

So girl, whether in your preteen, teen or tween age, you’re gradually grooming yourself into the woman you’ll become tomorrow. And you want to be a priceless princess, right?

Ok! Let’s go back to the story of the girl I told you about.

Once upon a time, in a kingdom that spanned 127 provinces, there was a search for a young woman who will become the queen. Young fair virgins were all called for the contest so that the king could choose who he prefers, and then he chose one girl – Esther.

What actually made Esther preferred and chosen as queen above all other women in this kingdom ruled by King Ahasereus?

Physical beauty? Yes, she was physically beautiful. But that wasn’t the star that singled her out because after all, Vashti, who lost the royal crown to Esther was fair to look on (lovely to behold)- Ether 1:11; the other girls who came for the contest were also fair (beautiful to behold)- Esther 2:1.

Social class? Nah nah nah! Esther was an orphaned Jewish slave, raised by her uncle Mordecai who merely sat at the king’s gate (gate keeper).

I glared into the life of this beauty queen until my eyes caught something unique stated about just her.

That was when she was being introduced in Esther 2:7 – and the maid was fair and beautiful

Beautiful! Yes…

But this was not just about the physical beauty of being “fair to look upon”. There is another beauty of hers’ talked about here. This is the kind of beauty that transcends the physical.

A radiant kind of beauty!

This was why she “obtained favour from him” [Hegai, keeper of the women] (Esther 2:8); obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her (Esther 2:15); the king loved Esther above all the women and she obtained grace and favour (2:17).

In short, looking at the life of this young woman, I simply could summarize it in one ward- she was  AMIABLE.

So let’s dig into the secrets in the life of this amiable young woman, which made her preferred….

Adorable Beauty:  Esther is an epitome of true enchanting beauty; the beauty that flows from inside out. Nothing beats this kind of beauty. As the bible rightly admonished in 1 Pet 3:3,4, “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price”. Not that we shouldn’t pay attention to our outward appearance; we should, to the glory of God. However, the beauty that makes you radiantly adorable is the beauty that flows from within. Adorn it! To find out secrets to such radiant beauty, read this ebook.

Meekness: In Esther, we see a young girl who was humble, modest and submissive. As seen in her respect and attitude towards her Uncle, though she was Queen; her Husband, unlike the other queen- Vashti; her maidens – she didn’t look down on or treat them harshly. Meekness is not a sign of weakness as some people think and say, but an attribute of inner strength of character as seen in the life of Esther. Forget what the world says and adorn yourself with this “ornament of a meek and quiet spirit” (1 Pet 3:4); you find favour and grace in the sight of God and man.

Ideal manners and courtesy: Esther wasn’t manner less, nor lacked courtesy in her dealings with people, whether servant or king. That’s why she could be accommodated and accepted into the royal house, and infact crowned the queen. Girl, don’t be uncouth! Carry yourself with grace and decorum, and treat people with respect. (1 Pet 3:8)

Attentive devotion: Just like the letter ‘A’ stands in the middle of the word “AMIABLE’, so does an Attentive Devotion to God stand as a pivot to the amiable life of Esther. She knew the true God, and was connected with Him. That’s the reason she boldly went to Him in prayers, fasting for three days, and trusting Him for divine answers. Such devotion to God wasn’t built in a day. She had nurtured such life before she came into the palace and that was why it wasn’t a strange or difficult thing for her to do at that time of need. Girl, spend these single years cultivating an attentive devotion to God. This is done by first accepting Christ into your heart as Lord and Saviour, and then growing in your relationship with Him through the study of His word and prayers. (Rom 12:1,2)

Bold and brave: We see in Esther a courageous, daring and resilient girl who was indeed strong in the face of adversities. When faced with the challenge to go out and meet the king at the wrong time, she did not flinch cowardly, but moved forward courageously, knowing she was going for a just cause and the Lord was with her. We’ve got to be fearless, strong and very courageous (Joshua 1:9).

Loving hospitality: To invite an enemy who has planned to kill your people to a 2-day banquet in your royal house will be considered a big time waste by many, but not Esther. She was hospitable- cordial and generous toward guests. A character of loving hospitality- receptive and open-minded, generous, good, lovely, endears one to people. (Gal 6:10)

Entire diligence: Esther showed traits of being diligent in whatever she had to do. Even during the purification period, she collected her materials and actually put them to work for the necessary beautifying process . Other girls probably spent that period, gisting away, taking a good look at the palace, and really eating everything that comes across them until they were over-satisfied. Esther knew the why and what she was there for, and didn’t fail to make good use of her time. Girl, whatever your hand findeth to do, do it with all thy might… (Ecll 9:10). Don’t spend your time doing nothing. Be hardworking! Be diligent! Be productive!

Grab these secrets from the life of Esther, and prepare to be the priceless princess that will be preferred by a prominent prince.

Remain Radiant!
